Special Education

Our Special Education Department is dedicated to providing appropriate and effective educational opportunities for our students with learning or other disabilities.

We ensure each individual’s dignity and worth in our schools through Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) and by providing supplementary services such as speech and language pathology and physical therapy.

Evaluation is an essential element in the special education process. The IDEA '04 regulations set specific requirements for conducting both an initial evaluation and any reevaluations. It is vital that public education agencies (PEAs) and parents of children suspected of having disabilities be knowledgeable about those requirements. We encourage school personnel and parents to download our Understanding Exceptional Student Services document to assist with navigating through the multidisciplinary evaluation process.

2017-2018 Child Find Screenings

Signups for child find screenings for the 2017-2018 school year begin on July 1, 2017, and continue through March 12, 2018. These screenings help identify students who may qualify for special education services. For more information, please see our child find flyer.
