Welcome to the San Carlos Braves

The San Carlos Unified School District #20 was established in 1965. We are located on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in San Carlos, Arizona within the Gila County boundaries.

The school district has 1550 students who attend the elementary and secondary schools. Our school is one of the few schools in the state of Arizona that has a rich cultural heritage which is essential to the way of life for the Apache.

Our mission is to empower graduates with skills to be 21st Century Nnee (Apache-The People).

Here at the San Carlos Unified School District #20, we prepare and provide education based on four core principals to meet all state assessment expectations:

  1. We will function as a professional learning community.
  2. We will maintain professional conduct.
  3. We will use best practices and proven strategies to ensure learning.
  4. We will provide a safe and orderly environment by creating a respectful positive learning climate that explicitly values the language and culture of all students.

Catherine Steele, Superintendent

Thank you for exploring the SCUSD #20 website.

Feel free to contact the school anytime if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Catherine Steele

Superintendent of the San Carlos Unified School District #20
